About me

Hello! I am a recent Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp graduate from Coder Academy, with a background in Science.

Previously I was an Instrument Chemist/Lab Tech at an environmental lab, analysing volatile compounds. After working in this field for a few years, I found myself not feeling challenged and finally decided to take the leap and turn a hobby of mine into a career.

While demanding, the bootcamp was an incredible experience that I wouldn't change for the world. I learnt so much in such a short amount of time as well as got to meet, and learn with so many amazing people.

Thoughout my time in the bootcamp I got to learn Ruby on Rails, Javascript, the MERN stack, SQL and NoSQL databases, OOP programming, and so much more.

I enjoy the full stack experience, building web sites from the ground up, and the challenges that come with it.

At Fontis as a graduate JavaScript developer, I got the opportunity to work on large scale ecommerce and POS web applications. The main project I worked on was an online POS system which will replace their current POS system.
My daily tasks included communicating with the clients to discuss their needs, investigate how best to achieve their requests, reporting back to the client with a better understanding of the requirements, and to design and implement the requested features.
Being my first software development position, I have had the opportunity to learn about the development process, improve and learn new skills, and meet some amazing people.

Hachi - Daily Planner

Hachi is a daily planner made for the terminal created with Ruby. It is my first project using an OOP language and using GitHub Projects to track and manage the development of the project.

Nerd Bucket

Nerd Bucket is a website which allows users and developers to collaborate on projects, and to allow new and aspiring developers to experience the development process from start to end. It was created using Ruby on Rails using a Postgres database.

Desperate Housewares

Desperate Housewares is a MERN stack web application with the purpose of creating an online catalogue for small op-shops in order to increase their market visibility and incentive customers to support local op-shops in their community.
